Are you having problems navigating through the new VBCG website? If so, the problem may be that you don't have the Java "plug-in" software installed on your computer. Plug-ins are "helper" type software that are produced by companies other than the one that produced your browser software. These plug-ins provide additional functionality for your browser and work automatically when you encounter an item that needs this software to work properly. Plug-ins add such features as "streaming" audio or video and interactivity so that the information being displayed in your browser can be tailored to your request or a response provided by a pop-up window, such as a request for a password to allow you to proceed, etc.
Here's what the VBCG "home page" should look like in your browser when you go to http://www.vbcg.org:

You will notice the big red arrow pointing at the "menu bar". This menu is an image created in your browser using JavaScript. If you don't have the "Java VM" (Virtual Machine) plug-in installed on your computer, this image will be blank, with just an outline. This menu bar and its drop-down menus, provides all the navigation throughout our website. If you are unable to view and use the menu bar, you will find alternative navigation links at the bottom of each page. If you don't have the plug-in, you can download it for free from Sun Microsystems, the company that developed Java. Go to their web page that guides you through the process of downloading and installing their Java VM software at: http://java.sun.com/getjava. In the process, it will check to see if you already have it, and therefore don't need to install it again.
For those of you who have WindowsXP, apparently Microsoft is not able to provide Java VM with their software currently as a result of a lawsuit. Therefore you need to go to the above website to install it yourself. To read more about the details of why Microsoft is not providing the Java software with its XP operating system, go to: http://www.microsoft.com/java/xp.htm.
If this doesn't solve your problem and you still can't access the rest of our website, please let us know so that we can try and help you resolve the problems you are having. Send us an email at: webmaster@vbcg.org.
