EDITORIAL

The excellent VBCG history created by  Charter Member Bud Greenlees  provides an vivid example of the adage "Nothing succeeds like success".  In contrast  to the early days when members had to be begged to serve on the Board or as officers, we now have talented persons freely volunteering for positions.  At the same time, this provides a cornucopia  of new talent and ideas to benefit the membership.  The "history" and "e-mail directory" by Greenlees and the column "Did You Know That" by Grider are good examples of this.
One area receiving increased attention concerns meeting speakers.  There has been difficulty in getting national speakers via FACUG vendors.  It takes 4 to 6 months advance work to do this.  In fact, it would be ideal to schedule speakers a year in advance.  In the future?: - A program committee that will handle this for two or three years at a time.  STEP UP!

VOLUNTEERS  SERVE   LIBRARY

  By  Sherman Reed, Staff Writer

VBCG members Thomas Chadwick, Charles Ernst, and Rolf  Hansen provided valuable help to the public library during February.  They helped members of the public from 2-4pm on six days to use library computers. The VBCG membership thanks these caring and helpful volunteers.
If you would like to serve as one of the Club volunteers helping persons use the library computers, please contact  Sherman Reed, at 562-2003. New helpers would be scheduled with a experienced helper for two hours to learn the setup and then serve a  few hours per month.
