Minutes of the March Board of Directors Meeting.

Vero Beach Computer Group, Inc. Board Meeting March 22, 2001 President Jean Grider called the March meeting to order at 5:37 with 10 board members in attendance. The minutes of the February meeting were approved as published in the newsletter.
Treasurer's Report: Joan Pannenborg reported that as of 1/1/01 we began the year with an opening balance of $1,793.45. Net income for the period ending 3/21/01 was $1,261.51 leaving us with a cash balance of $3,054.91. Expenses for the February and March newsletter are not included in the cash balance.
Membership Chairman: Art Paris discussed our total membership to date. We have 348 members with 286 mailings. Art drafted a welcome letter for prospective new members. After revision, the letter and a copy of our membership application will be given to guests at our general meeting.
Old Business: Jack Pirozzolo discussed our meeting schedule. Sabrina Brown said the library might delay construction of new meeting space. They have decided not to book meetings after 3/31/01. However, if the conference rooms are available in April and May our group can use them. Unofficially, the

rooms are booked for VBCG for April

and May. It was moved and seconded that we meet at the library for as long as possible.
Anne Fredlock volunteered to email an announcement to the membership regarding the meeting location for the April General Meeting. New Business: Sherman Reed is unable to continue scheduling the volunteers for the library.
A new coordinator is needed. President Grider will call one of the volunteers and ask him to serve as the new library coordinator. The volunteers will be needed during new construction since the computers will be operational for as long as possible.
It was suggested that the logo for our newsletter be pictured as a watermark on the first page of our newsletter. If any member has information for the newsletter, it is to be sent to :
             vbcgeditor@yahoo.com
VBCG purchased a scanner from Acer approximately one year ago. We have not received our rebate. Jack Pirozzolo wrote a letter to Acer on VBCG letterhead that will be signed by Jean.
Sammy San Miguel gave a presentation (via computer using Power Point) from the advertising committee. A suggestion was made to request a "photo ready" business card from prospective advertisers for inclusion in the newsleter. The board is going to conduct a survey of

local PC vendors, ISP's and office supply stores to determine the feasibility of selling advertising locally. After much discussion it was moved and seconded to accept the committee's recommendations. Our SIG groups cannot operate effectively without the use of a projector. The library offers its projector to our group as needed. Oftentimes the library has loaned their projector to another group and is not available for VBCG at designated times. Jess Hendelman has members of his SIG that are willing to donate money to our capital equipment fund. Other SIG leaders were requested to make an announcement at their respective SIG's that VBCG accepts donations for equipment. It was suggested that board members buy software and/or hardware under $25 to be auctioned at the general meeting. The member will be reimbursed with proceeds from the raffle. The meeting was adjourned at 7:30.
Respectfully submitted,
Anne Fredlock
