Our monthly General Meeting is the first Monday of the month at 7:00pm and is held in the large meeting room on the first floor of the Main Library, 1600 21st Street in Vero Beach.  Please see the map below.  All guests are welcome!

New for 2008!  New this year, we have the meeting room available to us starting at 6 PM.  Therefore we will now be offering a "Help Desk" to anyone who needs some extra help with any computer questions or issues.  We will still have our usual "Random Access" question and answer session as part of our regular General Meeting.  But we will now be offering this additional assistance for anyone who would like to come in early.  Feel free to bring along a laptop too, if you have one and need help with it.

The Help Desk will be staffed by various VBCG Board members and SIG leaders, as they are available.  We would also love to have any of our other members who are willing to offer their time and knowledge, to show up too and be available to offer assistance.  We are a self-help organization and any experience or expertise you have to share is welcome and appreciated.  You don't have to be an expert to help out!  If you do want to help, feel free to show up early and be available to answer questions.  It is helpful for us to know who and how many are planning to be there to help out, so if you plan to come and help answer questions, please take a moment and email us to let us know.  Thanks!

If you plan to come early to get assistance from someone at our Help Desk and think you may have a "stumper" of a question, it may be helpful for us to know ahead of time what you situation or question is, and therefore perhaps allow someone to research it a bit.  If so, you can email us the question and hopefully someone will be able to have a possible solution for you when you arrive.

The next General Meeting of will be Monday, July 7, 2008, 7 PM at the Main Library in Vero Beach.  The presentation will be by VBCG SIG Leader Frank Lombard.  Frank will be giving a demonstration on digital photography and examples of editing digital photos with the Adobe Photoshop Elements program.  He will also be talking and answering questions about digital cameras and things to know when buying a digital camera.  The program should be of interest to both newcomers and digital camera owners.

Do you have a topic that you would like for us to have a program about?  Or do you know someone who would be willing and available to do a presentation for the VBCG, that you think our membership would be interested in?  We would love to hear from you if so!  Please click here to send us and email to let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

During recent monthly meetings, attendees were asked to tell us what subjects they would like to have addressed at the monthly General Membership meetings. Responses identified 30 subjects, with the top eight being:

• How do computers work – what do all the specification items mean? – what do I really need in the computer that I buy?



• Networks and Internet Issues – modems, routers, wireless, difference between Internet providers (Bellsouth, Comcast, and others) – search engines, Internet Explorer or Mozilla, AOL, Yahoo, and others. E-mailing issues, like how to attach and download documents and photos?



• What is a virus, a worm, spyware, spam, phising scams and how to secure against them?



• How to back up files and storage options – CD, DVD, flash drives, external hard drives?



• What is the free download Quicktime? (Topic of the Feb. 5 General Member meeting)



• Digital imaging updates, to include photos with cell phones?



• Creating slideshows, with music and videos integrated.



• More on Power Point, Excel and Word programs.
